May 11, 2006 15:00 - The Diary
My mother always told me ‘there’s no harm in asking’, so here goes. This spring I quit my job sold my worldly belongings and decided to go to Whistler for the summer – life’s too short to be stuck in a dead end job 6 days a week where you’re not appreciated one iota.
All was going according to plan, my girlfriend was moving into my house to help pay the rent while I was gone, flights were booked & transfers sorted.
I figured I had enough money to last the 3 months on a budget, albeit a tight one.
And then came the bomb shell, my girlfriend wont be moving into my house as she’s just found somewhere of her own, so immediately nearly £1000 has gone from my budget to pay the rent while I’m gone so I have somewhere to live when I get back.
So Whistler is 3 weeks away and I have enough money to last a month, two at the most, with flights booked for three there’s no option to change return flights, so I’d have to just pay for a new flight home. On the other hand the extra months accommodation costs less than the flight home, so I could probably survive for a month including food etc on what it would cost to come home a month early – still with me?
So I’ve pretty much sold everything that isn’t bolted down already, right down to the spares I’ll probably need for my bike while I’m over there. So I’m now left with one option – selling advertising, I want you to sponsor me to the tune of 10 pounds. What do you get for your money? For only £10 you get a banner ad and some blurb of your choice. The site will get daily/weekly/monthly updates including photos and a bit of a blog, where I’m riding, what’s and who’s hot or not etc, that’s hundreds of hits, plus if you’re heading to Whistler at any point, you even get to buy me a pint if you want.
So that’s the story and that’s the catch.
So basically I want you to paypal £10, in exchange for some advertising, include your name and link/link to your banner ad in the “Note:(optional)” section of paypal. The address is sendmetowhistler@googlemail.com .
Like they said in Trainspotting ‘Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a f***ing big television…’ Then I say to hell with that – choose Life, choose to Ride.
Cheers for even reading this far.
