The Boner Dome
August 22, 2007 00:25
And now may I present to you the first in a series of articles that will dig deep into the nature of all the innanament objects we take for granted. We at whistlerdiaries or rather me , Adam the last remaining member , or as I like to think of it the last remaining highlander fighting for the preservation of man kind, will get to the bottom of how these until now voiceless objects really feel.

Highlander: Before we get to the gnitty gritty lets cover the basics

Foam Pit: Hi I am the foam pit. I live in parking lot 8 above base 2 on blackcomb mountain.

Highlander: How long have you been fostering little kids?

FP: I was built last summer in order to help the progression of all those little groms out there.

Thats me holding it down

Hignlander: Do you ever feel that maybe the foam pit isnt holding true to natural selection, I mean ten years ago If one wanted to try a back flip you had to just grow some balls and do it, with rarely a matress or a possible water jump around. Now you have all these kids thinking they can backflip the gap-o-tron simply because they rotated one with there diapers on in the foam pit.

FP: You raise a good point Adam but...........what ???

Highlander: My name is Highlander !!!

FP: uhh right any ways its true that yes the foam pit does create a false sense of security in terms of trying tricks but the whole idea is that riders try and become as consistant as possible into the foam before they try it onto the dirt. Once they are solid into the foam they can transfer there trick onto the dirt already comfortable with the dynamics of the trick

Highlander: yeah right what ever, but doesnt it make you mad when riders with Norco's and Super Monster T's jump into you all day trying nothing but a bow legged turn bar? I mean hell I would know, in between my sword battles to the death, I work there and wintess such people who take up the time of all those other riders who are actually trying to accomplish something with there life.

FP: Yes it is true that riders such as these can be frustrating but you have to remember that everyone has to start some where. Not everyone will be able to do a backflip after the first day at the foam pit, some people might never be able to do one in there life. No one is going to turn into the next Paul Bas or Cam McCaul just by riding the foam pit. The foam pit is all about riders having a good time and pushing themselves to try something new wether it be a bow legged turn bar or a backflip double tail whip.

Highlander: Yeah thanks a lot foamie you have been really informative. Would you like to sprinkle another dash of positive sunshine onto us?

FP: Dont huff glue and stay in school kids

Highlander: Yeah what ever this is crap. The freakin tabernacle has more negativity than this thing.

The Exodus Is Upon Us
August 20, 2007 08:25
Well it’s happening; the time has arrived for those of us with those rubbish things known as responsibilities and real lives to start leaving Whistler. Spooner, Dave Patten, Kyle and others have already left. I am writing this in the Vancouver airport as I await my departure having just seen Ben off on the international side.

I began writing this article after returning from visiting Dave and his family in Vancouver where I was faced with the shadow of a being that I will become in a few days. Leaving Whistler is much like quitting constant shooting of black tar heroin in shady back alleys….or so I’m told. When I talked to Dave he was distant, missing something in his life like a Jewish boy after his brisk (Elephant trunks represent!). Could it be the chemical dependency that we build up on Adrenalin, endorphins and most importantly alcohol? Could it be that we realize that real life isn’t what we’ve been living this summer? Or is it just that we leave friends that think and act like we do and as such feel such a connection to? Sorry, that last line was a too reminiscent of Adams post that further proves his homosexuality.

Where were you this summer?

I think it’s a little bit of everything. That’s why I purpose we institute a Post Whistler Rehabilitation Program. P.W.R.P for short. This program would comprise of straight injections of a jagerbomb/adrenalin/beefdip cocktail into the blood stream to be slowly weaned off as the weeks past. Contact to friends still in Whistler must stop immediately after departing as reports of hero dirt, zero lift lines and off-season drink deals can push those newly departed into severe depression.

Focus needs to be put on the amount of women, money and cheap booze that one is faced with as they leave the bubble. Reports are that a small band of scientists in Seattle were doing testing on this not-so-rare phenomenon. However, their borderline ethical methods resulted in the creation of freak beings known as the Seattle huck squad. These tattered souls were wrought with desire to find “super gnar” drops-to-flat and “uber zesty” jumps to upslope just to satisfy the need for adrenalin…this is not what we at the Whistler Diaries want for this world. That is why we are applying to the Canadian government for funding of the P.W.R.P. and help for those who are forced into the cold, flat bosom of reality.

Thanks Whistler for all the good times this year, and for all those who made it possible.

If your complaining about lack of updates you obviously have no idea how good this season was.

Peace,

Carlos

Sorrow and Loss
August 13, 2007 20:24

Why is it that with so much riding still left in the summer I am left with this empty feeling inside telling me that summer is over. Its because this is the time of the year that everyone feels that draw back to there home. Whether it be school, or family, or that sudden realization to actually do something with there life almost everyone I know is returning to whence they came. I know that the coming month of september holds the best riding of the whole year with non existant lift lines and fresh hero dirt every morning, but really what is it worth without friends to share to share it with.

Si 'wrinkly school boy' Paton sent us this photo. Look closely. This is classy. From left, Nicos Vouillez, Mr Si Paton, and Boy Camellini.
