Why put this on after Slopestyle? And if you must put it on on the Sunday, why put it on at the same time as Garbo DH? How the hell am I expected to take photos of two events at once?
Besides, after watching the Slopestyle the albeit huge jumps of the redbull hits look minor in comparison to the average joe. Lets face it Slopestyle is what people come to crankworx to see, its the main event, so why is it not on the last day?
Anyway i digress. It was windy up there and the riders were struggling to make it over the last jumps.
It was judged on a knockout basis, Pritzel taking the title; Cameron McCaul of Aptos, CA taking second, Paul Basagoita of Minden, NV in third and Greg Watts of Aptos, CA coming in fourth.
If you can make sense of the results document you're a better man than I. Though its probably a viewing fault on this ere Mac.
Timo was going big as usual, transfering from line to line and hitting the larger pack on the left. Everyone was pulling out their usual repittoire of tricks, but there were more dead sailors than in Davey Jones' locker over that last.

Controversial...
So you run what is becoming a world famous race, with probably nearly as many spectators as a round of the world cup - you'd think you'd be able to afford some tent pegs. Why? To stop the start tent blowing away and screwing up everyones times!
So the guy I spoke to said they werent even sure if they had a "backup man" on a stopwatch. So did Crankworx just make up the final times? Its been known to happen at different races before..
So peaty comes down the mountain with the amatuers half an hr before the pros because he's got to go do a TV interview. He sits in the hot seat all the way through to when the timing breaks, at which point no-one has a time. So if you were Crankworx with the ensuing global media coverage, would you want you podium position to be occupied by someone who's not there...no. So if you were making times up, would you put someone who's actually still in attendance on the number 1 spot so that 100s of media people could take pics of someone...its a possibility...
Anyway, Sam Hill won, who according to the Pique magazine is from Washington DC.. Peaty 2nd, my mate (sic) Kovarik 3rd followed by Mr Rennie in 4th.
The word on the street is that a lot of riders got lost as the course was poorly taped out, Mr Cedric 'im not French im Spanish' Gracia gave everyone a turn by turn reenactment of the entire course blow by blow once he got to the bottom - it was like watching a mime on crack - cheers Cedric...
Other category wise, local Brit Mark West won master senior once again, Seb came 18th and Sam..well Sam, Sam hit something large, yellow, black and green that wasnt a bigfoot, but very close..

Slopestyle, probably the most spectator friendly mtb discipline, lots of it set up high so everyone can see, youre close to the riders and the riding is jaw droppingly impressive (or 'off the hook' as Dave would say....)
Cam Zink took the win on his Haro with a good varied run.
Lance McDermott shoulda mixed it up a little more and im sure he would have placed, throwing down flares, flips, tailwhips and front flips, but he did the same run each time pretty much.
The announcers whoever they may be were damn annoying - the woman inparticular insisted that Lances 24/7 was a hardtail...erm..no.
Pics going up in the gallery asap, ive got hundreds to sort through.
Highlights include Bearclaw 360ing the road gap, Lance front flipping his ass off, tailwhips off the screen drop by Strait and Ryder Kasprick.

Lopes rocked A-Line with Cedric coming in second, Bryn Attkinson rocked in 3rd for GT.
Some other people podiumed in other categories, but Crankworx havent updated their site, so who knows where and who..
Again all riders were abused this time with the added noise of the abuse machine (tm) aka a water bottle filled with stones. There is a definite correlation between usage of the abuse machine and pedalling. No shaky shaky = no pedalling, shaking of the bottle and abuse led to much more pedal action!
What else...Peatys and Sam Hills bikes got jacked from their trailers.
Slopestyle course is open, kids dropping in and flipping all over the shop. I'll mosey up their and take some pics tomorrow, 4x practice too.
A big shout to Seb who ripped down A-line into 6th position today, is he bothered where he comes, is he hell, is he rapid, as hell. Well done boyo!
